FAQs

Are Lodge cast iron pans worth it?

Yes, Lodge offers unbeatable value for money and is guaranteed to last decades.

Why are Lodge cast iron skillets so cheap?

Compared to other vintage-inspired cast-iron skillets, Lodge is highly affordable. The reason for this is that Lodge skillets feature thicker walls, which are easier to cast than thinner sides, and their interior surfaces aren’t polished until they’re super smooth.

What country is Lodge cast iron made?

Lodge is the longest-operating cast iron manufacturer in America and has been forging skillets in Tennessee since 1896. Fava Trading Ltd. is the official partner on the Maltese islands.

Are Lodge skillets real cast iron?

Of course, Lodge creates its cast iron cookware through an age-old process called sand molding. A mix of molten pig iron, steel, and other ingredients is poured into a mold made of sand. Since sand melts at a higher temperature than iron, the mold holds its shape. Once the cast iron pan has cooled, the sand mold is broken, leaving behind a brand-new piece of cast iron cookware.

How do I season my cast iron cookware?

Simply clean and oil your cookware after every use. Rubbing oil into your pan after each use ensures the seasoning remains intact for quality cooking.

Can  I use cast iron over any heat source?

Yes! This is a big part of why we love cast iron. It’s safe to use in your kitchen, on the grill, and even over a campfire.

Can I use soap to wash my cast iron pan?

Contrary to popular belief, you can use a small amount of soap to clean cast iron cookware! Large amounts of soap can strip the seasoning off your pan, but you can easily re-season your pan as needed.

How do I clean a rusty cast iron pan?

It’s easy to restore rusty cast iron cookware. Simply scour the surface with warm, soapy water and a metal scouring pad. Apply a very thin, even layer of cooking oil to the cookware. Place the cookware in the oven upside down on the top rack, place aluminum foil on the bottom to catch excess oil, and bake at 230-260 degrees °C for one hour.
